RUMOR: New Metroid Title May Have Been Accidentally Revealed

Earlier this morning on the date of July 1st, Universo Nintendo Editior-in-Chief ‘Necro’ Felipe posted an article that has a lot of Metroid fans excited, the potential leak of a brand new Metroid title! We’ve reported on Felipe’s work before in the months leading up to Metroid Prime 4: Beyond, where he posted some of the first details about the game’s story and amiibo support.

Omega Metroid doesn’t typically report on rumors, but due to the source and unusual nature of how the information came about, we believe this warrants attention. ‘Necro’ Felipe’s screenshot came from Brazil’s Ministry of Justice and Public Security in a now deleted security leak. The document, submited yesterday on June 30th, mentions the existence of a title called Metroid Ravenous for the Nintendo Switch 2 via a classification rating, with Nintendo of America listed as the producers and distributors of the software.

The rating this supposed title was recommended was twelve years due to the presance of “weapons without violence, weapons with violence, violent acts, descriptions of violence, presence of blood, victims suffering, and intentional death”. This rating was made with a link provided by Nintendo of America that showed approximately fourty-one minutes of gameplay according to the document.

As of the time of writing, we have yet to hear any comment or confirmation on this information from Nintendo, so we must stress this is still just a rumor. We will continue to provide updates in the event that more information is released.
