Metroid: Samus Returns
The first new 2D Metroid game in over 10 years, Metroid: Samus Returns launched on the 3DS in 2017 to great fanfare. This was the first Metroid game developed by Mercury Steam. Samus Returns is an enhanced remake of Metroid II: Return of Samus for the Game Boy, introducing melee counters, free aim shooting, Aeion abilities, and more to the Metroid formula. In this game, Samus is tasked with eliminating the rest of the Metroid species from existence, heading to the planet SR-388 to do so. While confronting the various evolutions of the Metroids, Samus also learns more about their creation, as well as their creators, the mythical Chozo.
Metroid: Samus Returns is available for the Nintendo 3DS.
