Energy Tanks

Here you’ll find the location for every Energy Tank in Metroid Prime 4: Beyond, as well as detailed explanations on how to get them and what powerups you’ll need. Energy Tanks have been listed in order of your first chance to pick them up during the game, although that may vary by player to player, particularly from the point where you acquire all powerups in the game (for example, we chose to collect all items in order of Fury Green>Volt Forge>Ice Belt>Great Mines>Flare Pool>Sol Valley, but you may differ!).

 


Energy Tank #1

Location: Research Lab Zeta, UTO Research Center

Requirements: None

 

During the opening sequence, you’ll enter a Morph Ball tunnel and roll directly into this Energy Tank – you actually can’t miss this!


Energy Tank #2

Location: Cliffside Gate, Fury Green

Requirements: Psychic Glove

 

After acquiring the Psychic Glove, open the Lamorn door and draw the pattern in the Psychic lock to get Energy Tank #2


Energy Tank #3

Location: Archives, Volt Forge

Requirements: Defeat Sylux

 

After restoring power to the second tower, return through the Archives and get ready for a fight. Once you defeat “Sylux”, an Energy Tank will spawn. For detailed strategies on how to overcome your foe, see our Boss guide.


Energy Tank #4 

Location: Entrance to Ring of Thunder Shrine, Sol Valley (O23, Map)

Requirements: Psychic Glove

 

Position yourself behind the Lamorn Statue and use your Psychic Glove to move the node and complete the puzzle, lowering the gate housing Energy Tank #4.


Energy Tank #5

Location: Ladder of Thought Shrine, Sol Valley

Requirements: Fire Shot, Psychic Bombs

 

Once you’ve raised the two platforms and are standing by the door to take you to the end of the Shrine, pause first and look to the right of the door. You’ll see some webbing you can burn away with your Fire Shot. Once the wedding has been eviscerated, do a double bomb jump and roll through the tunnel to grab Energy Tank #5.


Energy Tank #6

Location: Power Generator, Ice Belt

Requirements: Psychic Bombs

 

Immediately after you’ve gotten all three wind turbines working again and the power has been restored, head to the console on the lower right part of the room. Activate the console, and a ramp leading to a lower level of the room will open. Follow it down and you’ll see a suspicious looking crate against the wall – blast it, and then bomb the flimsy gate guarding a Morph Ball tunnel; roll in.

Here, you’ll need to move carefully, as there are three jolts of electrical current shooting forwards in this tunnel, so move quickly yet cautiously and make your way to another tunnel at the top right. Roll through and Energy Tank #6 will be there waiting for you!


Energy Tank #7

Location: Storage Room, Flare Pool

Requirements: Psychic Glove

 

When you reach the storage room, simply trace the psychic node along its designated path to reveal Energy Tank #7, thankfully one of the easier tanks in the game to grab.


Energy Tank #8

Location: Power Core, Volt Forge

Requirements: Defeat Sylux

 

After acquiring the Thunder Chip, you’ll enter a second boss fight with “Sylux”. Defeat him again and another tank will spawn. If you need it, our Boss Guide has strategies for overcoming your nemesis.


Energy Tank #9

Location: Sacred Flame Ceremony, Fury Green

Requirements: Fire Shot, Ice Shot, Thunder Shot

 

Once you have completed all three elemental puzzles in this room and the two connecting rooms (Fountain of Tranquility and Rods of Transference) and the Lamorn statue has all three elements, an Energy Tank will appear for you to claim.


Energy Tank #10

Location: Ice Canyon, Ice Belt

Requirements: Psychic Grapple

 

Return to the Ice Canyon and make your way across the two rickety bridges. Scan the Psychic Grapple Points and use your Psychic Grapple to carefully (watch out for wind) cross the gap; once you land on the platform across the vista, Energy Tank #10 will be there for the taking!


Energy Tank #11

Location: Sol Valley (S3, Map)

Requirements: Thunder Shot

 

Right by the entrance to Volt Forge, and directly beside the Lamorn statue, you’ll see an Emergency Supply Storage Unit in the shape of an obelisk. Chances are good you’ve run into this Storage Unit many times over already. When you have the Thunder Shot, return, and give the control panel a jolt. The Storage Unit will open up, revealing Energy Tank #11.


Energy Tank #12

Location: Main Shaft – Level 2, Great Mines

Requirements: Psychic Boots, Psychic Boost Ball

 

After you’ve worked your way across the Shaft and finished the Spider Ball puzzle, slip into the Spinner and activate the main bridge. Once the bridge has finished moving into position, move to the halfway point and activate the Psychic Platforms; jump across until you reach the platform where Energy Tank #12 awaits.


Energy Tank #13

Location: Chasm Tunnel, Great Mines

Requirements: Psychic Power Bombs, Psychic Spider Ball, Psychic Boost Ball, Fire Shot

 

Starting in the Main Nest Tunnel room, lay a Power Bomb to gain access to the Chasm Tunnel and proceed through the the tunnel. Destroy any debris or enemies blocking your path and boost your way over to a large half pipe. Boost and use the Psychic Tether Node to launch yourself up to the top of this tunnel, where you can destroy one last piece of debris and use a double bomb jump to grab this Energy Tank.


Energy Tank #14

Location: Volcano Heart, Flare Pool

Requirements: Vi-O-La IC

 

Return to the Volcano Heart and you’ll find a bunch of debris littered around. On the left side, you can shoot open a crate containing an Energy Tank. HOWEVER, just as you’re about to grab it, a nasty creature called a Swim Snatcher will, as its name implies, snatch the Energy Tank. Chase it down and defeat it (this is a one time scan, so make sure to get it in now!) and Energy Tank #14 will be yours.
