Previews of Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse Reveal New Gameplay, Strong Reception

Last month a few select creators and media personnel were invited to play the first 3 hours of Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse.  Their previews and new gameplay footage has finally been released and the sentiment has been extremely positive.

The most common cited positive was the combat and movement fluidity. Creators spoke highly of the flow of combat, highlighted by the Arcana Whip which allows the player to string together omni-directional grapples to enemies while retaining momentum and attacking simultaneously.

Another aspect of the combat system that has been praised is the weapon and ability variety. There are 7 different classes of weapons each with their own move set.  Each class has a few different weapons to unlock and choose from. This customization can also be combined with the new abilities gained from defeating bosses to give even more freedom to the player in combat and movement.

Perhaps the biggest new reveal was the existence of a difficulty modifier. In Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse there will be no potions that players can stock up on for boss fights, making dodging and precise combat even more impactful. To counter this, the game will have a difficulty slider making the game as easy or difficult as the player chooses.
