Two Metroid Classics To Be Featured at Awesome Games Done Quick 2026 Speedrunning Marathon
Annual speedrunning marathon Awesome Games Done Quick (AGDQ) is set to take place from Sunday, January 4th, 2026 to Saturday, January 10th, 2026. For a full seven days, spectators will be able to tune in to the Games Done Quick Twitch channel to see some amazing gaming feats and perhaps a few world records broken. The event’s schedule was officially published online yesterday, revealing what exciting runs, races, and challenges will be featured that week.
Among the over 100 speedruns to be featured during this year’s AGDQ, two separate Metroid games are planned for the event. On Tuesday, January 6th, at approximately 3:42 AM ET, Metroid Prime 3: Corruption will take center stage, as runner MrMiguel will showcase the Any% category. And on Thursday, January 8th, at approximately 7:20 PM ET, Super Metroid will get a special presentation, as runner Ryan Ford will take on the “GT Classic” category, which utilizes the Golden Torizo (or GT) code debug feature.
And if you’re looking for even more Metroidvania action, the schedule also features Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow, Momodora Moonlit Farewell, and — if a donation incentive is met — Hollow Knight: Silksong.
Awesome Games Done Quick 2026 will run from January 4th to January 10th, 2026 on the GDQ Twitch Channel. You can check out the entire schedule right here.
Awesome Games Done Quick will once again be raising money for the Prevent Cancer Foundation, “a nonprofit dedicated to empowering people to stay ahead of cancer through prevention and early detection.” You can learn more about that organization right here.
