Highly Anticipated Super Metroid x Metroid Fusion Crossover ROM Hack “Super Metroid: X-Fusion” Is Available Now!

For those who enjoy Metroid ROM hacks, the day has finally come. A project over 10 YEARS in the making has finally released. After much anticipation, Super Metroid: X-Fusion by Metaquarius is complete. A total conversion hack of Super Metroid, Super Metroid: X-Fusion uses Metroid Fusion assets to tell a different spin of Metroid Fusion’s story while offering new abilities, new bosses, revamped and remixed environmental sectors for the B.S.L. Station, actual dialogue options at navigation stations and so much more. For those interested be wary, this hack is for veterans of Super Metroid and Metroid Fusion and is not for the faint of heart. The difficulty will push your skills to the limit and then some with new enemies, combat scenarios and the occasional SA-X chase that will be more in depth than you would expect.

For those who are unfamiliar with Metroid ROM hacks, let me fill you in. Essentially ROM hacks take the ROM of Super Metroid, basically the game as a whole, and changes the layout, enemies and item locations, switches up environmental textures, alters the game physics, anything you can think of can be altered in a ROM hack. Some hacks are more in depth than others, for example, one ROM hack can be what is essentially a handful of obstacle courses and is pretty short. Others put together a sizable map to explore with a set upgrade path and hazards to traverse. Super Metroid: X-Fusion specifically uses Super Metroid as a base and uses Metroid Fusion assets to convert Super Metroid into what seems like a completely different game.
