Metroid Prime Remastered Held Top 10 Spot in UK Game Software Sales This Past March

According to a recent Game Sales Data (GSD) chart, Metroid Prime Remastered was 9th in game software sales in the UK for the month of March 2023. MPR was not only in the top 10; it was the only Nintendo game that placed on the top 10 chart at all in March.

Metroid Prime Remastered launched worldwide back on February 8th as a digital-only title available on the Nintendo eShop. It wouldn’t be until two weeks later, on February 22nd, when physical retail copies would be available for purchase by fans globally.

As it turns out, Nintendo is one of the only publishers or developers that does not provide GSD with digital sales data. This means Metroid Prime Remastered held its top 10 spot on physical sales alone, as GSD only has access to physical retail data from Nintendo. All other titles have data that combines physical and digital sales.

GSD is a video game software chart that provides retail and digital market sales data, operated by the Interactive Software Federation of Europe (ISFE).

While it’s likely not indicative of any worldwide trends, it is impressive that Metroid Prime Remastered held onto its spot just on physical sales, being the only game in the top 10 to do so. The rest of the top 10 features major releases like Resident Evil 4 Remake; and the usual suspects like Grand Theft Auto V and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2; and annual releases like WWE 2K23, FIFA 23, and NBA 2K23.

Soon enough, we’ll get to hear how Metroid Prime Remastered has performed worldwide, both physically and digitally. Will it surpass Metroid Dread’s sales record, or even the sales of the original game?
