Update: Nintendo Provides a Metroid Prime 4: Beyond Instruction Manual You Can Make at Home

Update: An English version of the Metroid Prime 4: Beyond World Databook is now available on the Nintendo Today! mobile app.

Nintendo Today! users in North America and the United Kingdom can view a digital version of the Databook from the app’s news tab. It is largely the same as the Japanese Databook discussed below, just with (American) English text and no “Controls” page. Disappointingly, there’s no printable version available at the time of writing; so if you want to place something in your Prime 4 case, you’ll still need to print the Japanese version.

The Metroid Prime 4: Beyond World Databook is not available in any other languages at the moment. We will keep you updated if that changes!

Original: Like most modern games, physical copies of Metroid Prime 4: Beyond don’t include an instruction booklet, but there is the option to make one yourself… as long as you’re up for a bit of arts and crafts! For those looking to recapture that nostalgic feeling of leafing through a new game’s manual, Nintendo has released a printable Prime 4 “World Databook.”

The 24-page long Databook is available on the official Japanese website for Metroid Prime 4: Beyond. The book is written mostly in Japanese (with English titles included) and has sections devoted to the locations, game mechanics, and lore of Beyond. There are also dedicated Prologue and Game Control pages, just like the instruction manuals we used to flip through years and years ago. Plus, the Databook is simply gorgeous to boot.

You can view each page in high-resolution online, and you can also make a physical copy yourself with the template provided. You’ll have to print three A4 sheets (hopefully you’ve got a good color printer), and then carefully cut, connect, and fold the three pages into one complete booklet. Once that’s done, it’ll neatly fit in your game case.

It’s not quite the same as the instruction booklets from decades past — printer paper has a different feel to it than that shiny gloss — but it does make our Metroid Prime 4: Beyond cases feel a little more complete than they did before!

We’ll update you if the World Databook is released in any other languages.

Will you be printing the Metroid Prime 4: Beyond World Databook for yourself? Or are you waiting for it to be released in your own language? Let us know in the comments below or in our Discord server!
