Metroid Musing: Do You Think Sylux Will Be a Playable Character in Metroid Prime 4?
If you were a player dedicated enough to snag every expansion in Metroid Prime 3: Corruption, you would have been treated to a nifty cutscene of Samus’s gunship taking off in place, only to be menacingly followed by another gunship, that one belonging to the mysterious bounty hunter Sylux.
Though nothing has been confirmed yet, it’s reasonable to think that Sylux will have a role to play in the upcoming Metroid Prime 4, especially after making another cameo appearance in the much-maligned-but-still-canon Federation Force. What role Sylux could play in Prime 4 has been a hotly contested debate among Metroid fans, but one role I don’t see a lot of people talking about is Sylux being a playable character.
I don’t mean just in a multiplayer setting either, but having dedicated portions of Metroid Prime 4 (or maybe its DLC) where you man the Shock Coil and play as the Federation-hating hunter. There’s a base to playing as Sylux already, as he made his debut as a playable character in Metroid Prime Hunters, and I could see a story setting similar to Halo 2 in how you switched between Master Chief and Arbiter working well for Prime 4. Maybe it could even lead to spinoff titles!
With the way that the Metroid series has slowly been building Sylux up over the years, having him as a playable character seems like it’s not an impossibility, and I for one would love to see it!
What do you think? Is there any chance we’re playing as anyone other than Samus in Metroid Prime 4? Let us know in the comments below!
