Episode 112 – Alien Retrospective: The Movie That Inspired Metroid!
We’ve got a special treat for you this week as Andy’s Virtual Theater (the podcast about video game movies and the stories that shape them) co-host Gooey Fame is joining the pod for a retrospective of not only one of the greatest sci-fi movies of all time, but the movie that heavily inspired the Metroid series: Ridley Scott’s 1979 masterpiece Alien! We go over some of the elements of the movie that clearly inspired Metroid, talk about the threat of the Xenomorph and how it became such an iconic character, and discuss the movie in general, from its characters, to the setting of the Nostromo, to *that* famous scene. We’re all in on Alien, so if you’ve never seen it or haven’t seen it in a while, make sure that you give it a watch sooner rather than later!
All this, PLUS, we touch in on the Metroid Dread sales figures and discuss whether 2.9 million is a success or not (spoiler: it is). Come hang with us, and if you liked our movie chat, make sure you check out Virtual Theater!
