Metroid Musing: Will Metroid 6 Introduce a New Metroid Ability For Samus?
At the end of Metroid Dread, we discover that Samus’ Metroid DNA has awoken. In her final moment of defeat she transforms into her Metroid Suit and seizes Raven Beak. There we watch her new ability take over–the Metroid within her saps away not only the lifeforce within Raven Beak, but even the energy powering his ship. It’s an amazing moment for the franchise, redefining what we can expect in future installments. But how will this new ability take shape? Will her ability to absorb an enemy’s lifeforce become a part of her melee abilities, or will it integrate with her arm cannon giving her a new ranged attack?
Another possibility is that it integrates with her Grapple Beam much like the Grapple Voltage from Metroid Prime 3: Corruption. In Super Metroid, we discover that Metroids not only have the ability to absorb energy, but can also expel that energy into others. Perhaps, like Corruption, we might be able to latch on to an enemy and choose either to sap away its health, or overload it for some interesting results.
What do you think? Will we see a new Metroid ability take shape, and if so, what will it look like? Let us know what you think in the comments below.
