Check Out This Feature-Length Documentary Covering the Metroid Franchise
The Metroid franchise has been going on for nearly 37 years now. Despite its ups and down, through tragedy and triumph, the Metroid series has endured with a lasting legacy throughout the video game medium. With the release of Metroid Dread, the surprise release of Metroid Prime Remastered, and with Metroid Prime 4 on the way, the Metroid series is currently on the rise to potentially enter another “golden age”.
However, it’s always important to remember where we’ve been to know where we’re going. In comes Brendan Hesse of The Crawl with his newest video, an in-depth, feature-length documentary covering the entire Metroid series.
Brendan’s documentary, “How Metroid Saved the Galaxy”, has input from game developers, journalists, fans, and even friends of Omega Metroid like Kiwi Talkz and Synamax. This documentary starts where all great stories begin, with the very first Metroid game on NES. The development history of each game, their positives and negatives, what makes them unique, how they impacted the video game medium, and more are discussed.
Covering the various releases in the Metroid series isn’t all there is to look forward to, however; the legacy of the Metroid series, Samus herself, and so much more are discussed in this nearly-2-hour-long odyssey through one of Nintendo’s most beloved franchises.
Be sure to add Brendan Hesse’s “How Metroid Saved the Galaxy” to your to-do list and then come back here to tell us what you thought in the comments below!
